Have you ever bought a piece of underwear so pretty you thought it deserved a modest slice of public appreciation? Well, when I laid eyes on the Agent Provocateur sale a while back I knew it was my chance to purchase something pretty special, and to let a little of it on display in this low side-cut crop top! Showing off a little underwear as part of your outerwear isn’t something I make the habit of doing, but with a pared down black & white outfit the underwear hopefully doesn’t look over the top or completely unladylike! And while you might think this is untrue, it isn’t uncommon for me to step out of the house without a second’s thought of ‘support’ for my chest – a small cleavage doesn’t need much! So pretty underwear is the best kind of reminder to actually put something on…!

I have quite the love/hate relationship with pencil skirts; having a figure that is far more up-and-down than curvy means I never call upon the wonders of a pencil skirt to flatter me. But, this Topshop number – along with a few I’ve spotted on Peter Hahn – are slowly changing my mind. And showing a little flesh (and underwear) could only be teamed with a dose of decency – so out comes the pencil skirt! I think it softens the look a little that a shorter skirt wouldn’t do. Plus, who said dressing ladylike had to be completely modest? x
