With just days left in Brighton before I “officially” move the majority of my possessions back to Surrey, I’m trying to make the most of living in such a beautiful place, by the sea and with so many boutique shops and places to eat. Having finished my degree (eek!) last week however, I’ve taken a few days just to rest, sleep a little better, and start a new series or two (Mad Men and Game of Thrones I’m looking at you!). But, being the shopper I am, nothing could ease me into celebrating finishing like buying a new pair of jeans, and these super tight Topshop ones tick the all important boxes of being very fitted and very black! Every grown up needs one, right?

If you’ve already scrolled down to the end, you’ll also notice that my new bag is from Paul’s Boutique, and I bet you’re surprised there’s no neon in sight! With a really sophisticated, new direction coming from the brand, I couldn’t be happier to sport such a ladylike satchel; even their signature keychain is ladylike! It seems quite apt to wear such a grown up bag having just finished university, it’s all getting a little serious now! After having a peek at their new bags in general, it does look like the brand has grown up from the days of neon hoodies and bright bags –  though there’s still a bit of that left if you are that way inclined! If you have a peek at their new range I hope you’re as pleasantly surprised as I was! Having paraded my new jeans and bag around all of Brighton, a sunny day here isn’t the same without a portion of chips and an ice cream by the sea, which you’ll have spotted over on my Instagram. And to top it all off, while we were sitting by the seafront, I witnessed someone lovingly planting a rose amidst the pebbles…I love Brighton! xx

“Are you a cat or a dog person?” is an important question. It seems that these days there are “Cat Camps” and “Dog Camps”, with heated discussions and lengthy explanations for why cats are so much better than dogs (“they’re so independent!”) or why dogs are definitely the winner (“you can’t buy the sort of loyalty you get from a dog!”). Well, to be completely honest with you, I’m neither a cat nor a dog person. I’m a “cute” person. As in, if I think an animal is cute -and cute is completely subjective- then I’m in love. And I’d like to promote a healthier “cats AND dogs” atmosphere than the usual “cats versus dogs”, because, well, they all deserve to be loved!

Aside from the wonderful friendship my beautiful new phone case from Iconemesis struck up with my equally cute dog clutch from Pepa Loves, this outfit also features a pair of shoes from Golden Ponies. Could I fit any more animal-related things in one outfit?! Hmm, I’ll take that as a challenge… I’m also wearing a beautiful bespoke-made necklace from Shop Lune, and can’t help feeling that it gives this possibly super-sickly-girly outfit a little bit of sass.

Last week I spent the day with Kitty on a little adventure to the Natural History Museum and her family’s lovely abode in Surrey. The photo series on Kitty’s website, which you can view here, “Velvet Eyes”, is a lot more like a storybook, and I urge you to have a full look if this little snippet has teased you! I’m sure you are well aware of the wonders of Kitty and her camera, so there isn’t much more that I can add except to reiterate how magical she is! I’m not one to like most photos of myself, but even I can confess that her photo-series, from the mood to the lighting and colours, is wonderful. I’m very grateful to have been the ‘model’! The quiet intimacy of the entire album resonates well with me; I’m no wild thing, and I definitely love a wander round a museum and curling up on a sofa more than your average gal! You might be a little quizzical over how casual my outfit is here; I hardly wear jeans these days, and more or less live in the shirt collection I own! But sometimes, we all need something a little looser on top – it is Easter after all! – and wearing tights day in and day out gets a little bit tedious, even for me and my never ending love for black tights…

So when the sun looked set to shine over Kingston for my ‘shopping trip’ with my mum and sister, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to give this new top and shoes from Free People their first outing! The peplum top is the first – and probably only – peplum style top I own. It was never a look that worked for me, but when done in a slouchy style like the peplum tops by Free People, where the idea isn’t to be fitted and flared but rather to be worn off-shoulder and casual, I’m sold! In fact, there is something so effortlessly cool about Free People’s collection of clothes, bags, and shoes, which I’m not quite sure I can emanate, but I certainly will try! And coincidentally (or not) I had also been rooting around for the perfect daytime summery heel until I saw the selection of platform shoes on their website; now the weather just needs to catch up with my wardrobe! xx

P.S. It says a lot about me that the only thing I came away with from this shopping trip was a cheese platter from the market…with six different cheeses, who cares about buying a new dress?!

You may or may not already know, but I really like polka dots and bows. As in, really, really, like them. It isn’t necessarily every single bow-adorned top, nor every polka dotted item, but there’s something about them both, especially together, that makes me swoon. The second I received this beautiful Dahlia pinafore, I knew just the perfect shirt! It felt like something was missing until, out of the corner of my eye I spotted my favourite bow to top it all off! It’s pretty silly, I know, but it makes me happy when I put something together that I just think works. For all this blabbing, you might be thinking this outfit isn’t so great..! But hey, that’s the whole point about personal style; each to their own!

A few weeks ago my friend and I spent a day walking all over Brighton followed by the lovely guys at Shuffle as part of the new campaign by Barbour for their timeless new Dress Tartan collection! When I received an email from Sarah at Barbour even longer ago, I couldn’t quite believe my luck, and fast forward to today I am proud to share the video along with photos snapped on the day! I’m wearing the Willow Quilt and the Tartan Tarras Bag, while my friend is adorned in one of their very lovely scarves. When I thought about what to wear with the Willow Quilt, I thought simple was best, and opted for a classic brown cable knit and matching shoes, with black trousers and a touch of red lipstick for a little colour!

The campaign I’m part of also includes bloggers you most certainly have heard of, have a look at the main video to spot them! I’ve been a little daunted by the thought of sharing the video with you; it’s a lot different from picking a handful of photos to edit in Photoshop out of however many hundreds you might have taken..! But, alas, below is my video, and really, aside from the over-the-top munch of my chips at the end, I don’t think it’s too bad. Luckily, you’re not put through the agony of hearing my voice on film. It isn’t very often you’ll see me in a pair of cropped, wide-leg, pyjama-style pants; in fact, this is probably the first pair that I own! I pushed myself out of my comfort zone with this matching set, which doesn’t feel too over-the-top with a fitted black jumper and black shoes. Plus – and this is a big plus – the material is super soft, so much so that it really felt like I was walking around in my pyjamas! If you’re wondering why on earth you can spot a bit of ‘Celia Birtwell’ on each of us bloggers, it’s because the wonderful Celia Birtwell has collaborated with UNIQLO for a (very affordable) print-alicious collection of trousers, shirts, dresses, vests, scarves (you name it, she’s put a print on it!) launching on Thursday 21st March.

There’s also a competition running alongside this collaboration, if you fancy your chances! With the British weather teasing us with some sun and a warmer temperature here and there, you can forgive me for willing the warmth to come with a pretty stripy summery dress from InLoveWithFashion! Layered under a (much warmer) cropped jumper certainly makes the dress seem more appropriate for February, though. I’m also wearing a pair of shoes from Zalando, with a slight heel and a bit of ‘androgyny’ you can’t go wrong! I’ve been looking for a pair of easy slip-ons for a while, and ever since my brogues gave way  last year, my shoe-drobe has been missing a pair of brown shoes!

Having the Brighton Pier in the background, and looking like a sailor in my stripy dress, it seems fitting that I couldn’t wish to sail away more than I currently do! A heavy dose of wanderlust has recently taken over as I’ve started to think about what to get up to after I finish university – which is only a few months away.. And considering a fair few relatives are scattered across the globe, it’s safe to say I have my fingers crossed for a real spot of ‘sailing away’ before the year is out. This dress will be number one on my travels, that’s for sure! x

As deceivingly whiny as this post title suggests, there’s nothing boohoo-y about this! In the quietest corner of Somerset House, a spot well known by Carrie who lead us there, we were able to get snap happy away from the buzz and madness of London Fashion Week on Saturday! Dressing like I’m still in ‘school’ – pinafores, shirts, bows and the inevitable big ‘school bag’ – seems to be my favourite way of dressing every morning. With the ever-increasing library visits to campus as my two dissertations progress, I certainly feel a lot more like a schoolgirl than a 21 year old adult soon to be out of education…eeek! x

So, wearing a super Springtime blouse on a blustery Brighton seafront does seem a bit unusual, but I couldn’t change my mind once I’d decided to snap photos here! Wind aside, the blouse really does make me feel like spring is coming, especially considering the warmer weather some parts of us have experienced over the weekend; I wore my leather jacket on Saturday, no need for a fur coat at last! But knowing our weather, it’s likely not to last too long, so embracing tights like this dotted pair are as sheer as I’m prepared to go for now! I’m also wearing a beautiful bracelet from Feather & Stone. It’s stretchy so there’s no hassle in putting on or taking off, and with a multitude of different coloured stones you can choose from, it makes for a lovely gift for someone, especially if you know their favourite colour! Now, I’m going to go and will Spring to come a little earlier this year. You never know, if we all try, maybe it will happen.. x
