If I Was a Rich Girl

On the scale of how much does your skirt ride up, this leather number trumps all. Thankfully my foresight enabled me to take a long black trench coat with me, preventing any embarrassment when walking up the underground stairs! It’s been a truly inspiring day, starting with the Ballgowns exhibition at the Victoria & Albert museum. I found myself consistently drawn towards the gowns from the 1950s, something about the structured waist and the neck detail had me oohing and aahing the entire time! The few photos I did take were of the surrounding displays, things I would have no problem with wearing today, even though they date from 1850-1940..! I really recommend visiting the exhibition, it’s on for a few more months and it really is a beautiful collection of ball gowns, a real celebration of British fashion since the 50s!

The rest of the afternoon was just as inspiring, exploring new parts of South Kensington I’d never taken the time to walk through, and chanced upon rows upon rows of magnificent houses. Peeking in to any open window was an interior designers’ paradise, I spotted many a chaise longue and chandelier. If I was a rich girl, my house would definitely have its’ own balcony, à la the beautiful apartments pictured here! The day was finished off by eating gelato in the shape of a flower, and it couldn’t have been a sweeter ending! xx
